Welcome to cello lessons. Lets figure out what you will need to get started.

A Cello

This is an obvious requirement but when looking for a cello that will fit you and your needs, there are many options available to the beginning, intermediate and advanced player, There are rent to own options, there are school rentals, there are wonderful music stores in the Billings area that can help get you started. Never be afraid to ask questions and look for all options available.

Schedule a lesson

Lesson lengths run 30, 45 or 60 minutes. A basic guide to time required is- Elementary school = 30 minutes. Middle School = 30-45 minutes, High School - 45-60 minutes, Adults = 60 minutes.  This is a generic guideline. Each student progresses at a different pace and the required lesson time will be handled on an individual basis as determined by the teacher and student.

Required Music

At the 1st lesson we will discuss what music you will need to start the cello journey. I use a combination of many methods and books so we will see what you need. As the student gets more advanced, I will frequently order the music required and send a bill home at the lesson. That insures that we have the right edition to work from.

Miscellaneous

We will also discuss other things that you might need, rosin, music stand and rock stop (end pin rest). A note book is also helpful if I need to write and information that you might need through the week, though I will be posting lesson notes on your student page at this site, so you will have access
